& Parks
Alvaro Obregon Garden
Relaxing place, located right across the street from the boardwalk. The famous artist did its design from the State of Colima Alejandro Rangel Hidalgo. Beautiful fountains in the middle, a colonial style kiosk and the gorgeous lamps all around it constitute it.
Campos Lighthouse
In the northern part of
Playa de Campos is found a Hill of about 120 meters in height. On the top of
this Hill the lighthouse can be found. From this point you can admire the great
immensity of the sea, and also the Cuyutlán Lagoon with the green sparkle of
its palm trees and extensive vegetation. From this point, you can also admire a
portion of Manzanillo city. In order to get to the lighthouse you can walk in
the rainy season, because of the mud to prevent vehicles from getting stuck, or
you can drive when you are traveling in the dry season.
Elephant Rock
This is located in the Juluapan Peninsula about a 20-minutes boat ride from Miramar and an hour away from the Port of Manzanillo. This enormous rock formation is one of the attractive in the state. It
gets its name from the extraordinary resemblance it has to an elephant. You can
prove this from almost any angle you look at it. This site is highly
recommended for scuba.
Ventanas
Through the road that
goes from Manzanillo to Campos, you can see the specific point where the sea
becomes one with the Cuyutlán Lagoon. You will find a bridge there, from where
you can take the side road that will take you to Ventanas. Beautiful Mirador
from which you can see the astonishing landscapes. Right in front of El Mirador
is the sea and at each side there are majestic rock walls where the sea crashes
forming splendorous but disappearing fans of water that sparkle in the sun.
Peña Blanca
This great rocky
formation coming out from the sea is located towards the Playa de Oro. It gets
its white color from the sea birds feces because it is a natural refugee for
thousands of them. In order to visit this place you have to take a boat, mainly
departing from Santiago, Las Hadas or La Perlita downtown. It really is a wild
life show, where you can admire thousands of birds flying around the rock.
Tepacaltes Beach (Cuyutlán Lagoon)
This is a privileged
site for bird lovers. Daily at sunrise and sunrise flocks of "golondrino
ducks" and "pichiches" and other species cross the lagoon in
what has been called the most appropriate place to watch this species in the
state of Colima. The best place to be is the nearby section to the Tepalcates Bridge in the toll road to Colima.
