Extreme Sports
One of the most important activities for those who enjoy extreme sports is shooting the rapids in a speedboat. A competition is held every year in the Balsas river and the route includes Santo Tomás, Ciudad Altamirano, Lázaro Cárdenas and Zihuatanejo.
Río Balsas
The Balsas river has rapids ideal for professional races of different categories, such as the Río Balsas Nautical Marathon which takes place in November. The race begins near the river crossing of federal highway 95 and ends in Zihuatanejo, 500 km away.
