Culture

Michoacan is famous for its vivid artistic and cultural expressions as the soul of Mexico. Morelia, simplifies the renascent ideas that inspired the creation of new-Spaniard cities, the horizontality in drawings and solar dimensions. Because of its architectural quality in plazas and buildings, this beautiful city was declared in 1991 as a  World Heritage Site.

Morelia is home of the first conservatory of America in XVIII century, and is now a center of music excellence.  Every year, due to the tradition and music culture of the city, different events such as International Music Festival, International Guitar Festival and International Piano Festival are taken place in different places of the orb.

Different museums harbor permanent and temporal expositions of paintings, sculpture, photography and engraving.

Each year the Cultural Institute of Michoacan organizes different artistic events such as K’uinchekua, a local party with dances and music from all the regions of the state; as well as festivals of Theatre and Contemporary Dance.

For all this, Michoacan is an extraordinary place to visit as the soul of Mexico.
