Guadalajara, hosts hundreds of small parks and plazas. One of the best ways to tour nature, parks and attractions is via horse-drawn carriage.

North Guadalajara is the Barranca de Oblatos, a spectacular canyon with a depth of 600 meters (1900 feet), at the base of which runs the Grande de Santiago River.

Just north of town is the Barranca de Oblatos, a spectacular canyon with a depth of 600 meters (1,900 feet), at the base of which runs the Grande de Santiago River. The best views come from afar and one of the best is right in town at the Parque Mirador on Calzada Independencia. There are several observation platforms and an open-air theater. Nearby Huentitán has a covered observation deck which boasts a panoramic view.

Another excursion within the city is the park Bosque La Primavera.
